I am proud, honored, and humbled to announce that I am the recipiant of a New England Emmy Award for my work on “A Decade of Dominance: Ten Years In Boston Sports History”.
I was fortunate to direct, produce, edit, and write this hour long sports documentary for Comcast Sportsnet New England. “Decade” chronicles the ten year period form 2001 to 2010 in which Boston sports fans witnessed a total of six championships won by the city’s professional sports franchises. I had the privlage to interview nearly 40 celebrities, athletes, journalists, and media members who relive some of the greatest moments in Boston sports history as they give their own unique, and personal accounts of what it was like to be part of these championship teams, or to watch it as a fan.
One of the greatest moments in my career took place during the production of this documentary, as I was able to get Conan O’Brien to agree to be interviewed for this documentary. The Brookline, MA native was extremely gracious and invited me out to Los Angeles to conduct the interview in his office after a taping of his late night talk show. Along with Conan, some other notable participants were Pedro Martinez, Curt Schilling, Robert Kraft, Michael Chiklis, Sully Erna (Godsmack), Doc Rivers, Denis Leary, Jimmy Fallon, Lenny Clarke, Dustin Pedroia, Deion Branch, David Ortiz, and many more.
Although I may have accepted the award a number of people deserve my gratitude, and some well deserved recognition. Bill Bridgen, VP and General Manager, Len Mead VP of Programming, and Kevin Miller, Senior News Director of Comcast Sportsnet gave me a tremendous amount of freedom and support to be able to bring my vision for the documentary to life. My production assistant, Ryan Hennesey is one of the hardest working young talents in the area. Also, videographers Barry Alley, Bill Messina, and the extremely talented Tom Guilmette’s contributions to this project were amazing, and they are some of the best people to work with in the market. Last but not least, the creation of the graphic elements for this show were created by Matt Middleton, and Jason Sokol who added the finishing touches to give “Decade” a powerful visual presentation. Overall an outstanding result from an outstanding group of talented people.
